"Software Estimation" is a Software Development Productivity Award Winner

Bellevue, WA - March 21, 2007 - Jolt Awards and Productivity Awards were announced at the SD West conference today. Software Estimation: Demystifying the Black Art, by Construx's founder, Steve McConnell, was awarded one of two Software Development Productivity Awards in the Books (Practical/General Developer Interest) category. Software Estimation was previously chosen by Amazon.com editors as the number one pick within their Top 10 Editor's Picks in Computers & Internet books.

Software Estimation: Demystifying the Black Art is responsive to the widespread problems the software industry has experienced in creating meaningful cost and schedule estimates. It presents fundamental estimation techniques and addresses specific estimation challenges. Published by Microsoft Press in March 2006, the book retails for $39.99.

Steve McConnell is CEO and Chief Software Engineer at Construx Software. In addition to Software Estimation, McConnell is the author of Code Complete, Rapid Development, Software Project Survival Guide, and Professional Software Development. His first two books won Software Development magazine's Jolt Excellence award for best programming books of their years. In 1998, readers of Software Development magazine named Steve one of the three most influential people in the software industry along with Bill Gates and Linus Torvalds.

The Jolt Awards are regarded as the Oscars of the software industry since their launch in 1990. More information about the Jolt Awards can be found at www.joltawards.com.
