Steve McConnell, CEO

Best known as a software development thought leader, Steve McConnell is also an accomplished business leader. In 2000, the Eastside Business Journal named McConnell one of the 40 top regional business leaders under 40 years of age. In 2004, he was honored with Seattle University’s prestigious “Alumni of the Year for Professional Accomplishment” award. McConnell has frequently lectured at the University of Washington Business School, Seattle University, Project Management Institute, Washington Bar Association, Northwest Technology Executives Forum, and other Seattle-area forums, and he has keynoted at most major software conferences. McConnell chairs the Executive Council for Software Excellence (ECSE), a Seattle-area discussion group for top Northwest software development executives, and he hosts Construx Software’s annual Executive Summit, an event that draws a world-wide audience of software development executives. McConnell earned a Bachelor’s degree from Whitman College (magna cum laude, phi beta kappa) and a Master’s degree in Software Engineering from Seattle University.

Mark Nygren, COO

Mark Nygren is responsible for all company operations including strategic planning, finance, and sales and marketing. Prior to Construx, he held a variety of operations management/executive positions in the high tech industry (Boeing, Crane/ELDEC, Carver Corporation). Nygren holds a BA in Economics from Whitman College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Jenny Stuart, VP Consulting

Jenny Stuart oversees Construx's consulting services, focusing on proven software development best practices. Stuart has 20 years experience in process improvement, software testing, and quality assurance techniques. Her expertise in incorporating software development best practices has helped numerous companies dramatically improve their software development and quality assurance processes. Jenny is an expert in quality practices, such as developing quality and test plans, and has a deep knowledge of software testing, process improvement, and quality assurance techniques. She is the author of numerous Construx client studies and Construx white papers. Jenny has a BSEE from the University of Washington. She is a member of the Computer Society of the IEEE, the Association for Computing Machinery, the American Society for Quality, and the Quality Assurance Institute. In 2000, she earned the highest score in the United States on QAI’s Certified Software Test Engineer (CSTE). She also has CSDP certification, is a Professional Scrum Master (PSM), and is a SAFe Program Consultant (SPC).

Matt Peloquin, CTO

Matt Peloquin oversees technical evaluations of client software, improves client development practices, investigates new technologies and provides best practice training. Peloquin has performed design and code risk analysis for over 200 software systems across a broad spectrum of industries. Prior to joining Construx, Peloquin worked for IBM, LapLink, Battelle and the University of Washington Medical Center. He previously was the chair of the Puget Sound PMI Software Engineering Management Roundtable (SEMR), a contributor to the CSDP examination, and senior reviewer for IEEE Software magazine. Peloquin earned a BSEE from the University of Washington.
