Construx Software Named One of Washington's Best Workplaces by Puget Sound Business Journal

PSBJ_logo[1]      Bellevue, WA - June 27, 2008 - Construx Software was named as one of the finalists for Washington's Best Workplaces by the Puget Sound Business Journal. The program was launched last year to identify and recognize best practices in the hiring and retention of great people. After an extensive and rigorous process, which included more than 300 nominees and the completion of surveys by nominee-company employees across the state, workplaces in four different categories have been identified as Washington's best, based on their various employee benefit offerings, leadership culture and work/life balance philosophies. In total, 65 companies have made the grade as finalists.

Construx Software is the market leader in software development best practices training and consulting. What defines the company is a set of shared values such as openness, trust, and respect that are expressed in ways big and small. Management has created an environment that empowers employees to perform at their highest level while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. In the words of one employee, “I know that there will always be ways for me to grow in my job. It’s one of the ways that Construx ‘walks the talk.’ Professional development is not just a key service we offer our clients, it’s also a core value that ensures we’re the best at what we do.”

"It's gratifying to be recognized as one of the best places to work in Washington state. Our goal is to attract and retain an exceptional staff, and we believe that creating an exceptional environment helps us do that." Steve McConnell, CEO and Founder, Construx Software.

“Work-force development has never been more important – or more difficult – than it is in today’s global economy,” said Emory Thomas Jr., publisher of the Business Journal. “We believe the Business Journal, as the Puget Sound area’s top source of business information, has an important role to play in drawing attention to innovations and excellence in the management of our region’s No. 1 resource: its people.”

The finalists – 20 small companies, 20 medium-sized companies, 20 large companies, and five nonprofits – will be celebrated at a one-of-a-kind awards event at Safeco Field on August 13th. Honorees and the public alike are invited to come cheer for the workplace accomplishments of these companies from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The celebration will include ballpark food and drink, walking the bases, caricatures by award-winning Business Journal cartoonist Milt Priggee, speed pitching, and an awards presentation. The company with the greatest number of employees present will win a suite at a future Seattle Mariners game.
