Best known as a software development thought leader, Steve McConnell is also an accomplished business leader. In 2000, the Eastside Business Journal named McConnell one of the 40 top regional business leaders under 40 years of age. In 2004, he was honored with Seattle University’s prestigious “Alumni of the Year for Professional Accomplishment” award. McConnell has frequently lectured at the University of Washington Business School, Seattle University, Project Management Institute, Washington Bar Association, Northwest Technology Executives Forum, and other Seattle-area forums, and he has keynoted at most major software conferences. McConnell chairs the Executive Council for Software Excellence (ECSE), a Seattle-area discussion group for top Northwest software development executives, and he hosts Construx Software’s annual Executive Summit, an event that draws a world-wide audience of software development executives. McConnell earned a Bachelor’s degree from Whitman College (magna cum laude, phi beta kappa) and a Master’s degree in Software Engineering from Seattle University.
